Bristol Bus Buddy is a product of HyperPoint Ltd, registered in England and Wales (Company No. 15925699). It's built to be useful without asking for an account, a name, an email address, or advertising consent — on the website and in the app.
Location, in the app
Bristol Bus Buddy can use your device's approximate location to show bus stops near you. This is entirely optional: if you don't allow it, or your browser can't provide it, the app uses a fixed Bristol location instead, and remains fully usable.
If you allow it:
- your coordinates are used only to find and order nearby stops;
- they are stored only on your device for the length of your browsing session, and are cleared when that session ends;
- they are not logged or stored on Bristol Bus Buddy's servers — the server uses them only in memory, to compute which stops are nearby, and does not write them to any file, database, or access log;
- they are never sold, shared with advertisers, or used to build a profile of you;
- we do not request "precise" location — only standard/approximate accuracy.
You can withdraw location access at any time through your browser or device settings. Declining or withdrawing does not restrict access to any other part of the app.
Saved stops, in the app
If you tap a star beside a stop, Bristol Bus Buddy saves that stop's name, direction indicator and map coordinates in your browser's local storage. This is only so the app can offer it back to you as a shortcut later.
Saved stops stay on that device and in that browser. They are not sent to Bristol Bus Buddy's servers, do not create an account, and are not used for analytics or advertising. Tap the filled star to remove a saved stop, or clear this site's browser data to remove them all.
Analytics choice, on the website
This applies to the bristolbusbuddy.co.uk website only — the app itself has no analytics of any kind. We ask before enabling Google Analytics. If you choose Allow analytics, Google Analytics helps us understand general use of this website, such as pages viewed, device/browser category, approximate area inferred from IP address and how visitors reached the site. We use this only to improve BBB.
Before you choose, the Google Analytics tag is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set. If you choose No thanks, the site remains fully available. We do not use targeted advertising or sell personal data.
Your choice is saved only on this device so we can remember it. To withdraw or change it, use the button below. This removes the local preference and asks again on the next page load; any first-party Google Analytics cookies for this site are also cleared.
What Bristol Bus Buddy doesn't do
- No accounts, sign-ins or contact forms.
- No targeted advertising or advertising trackers, on the website or in the app.
- No "precise" location request — only standard/approximate accuracy, and only if you opt in.
- No analytics in the app. On the website, none unless you opt in.
- No ticket purchase, journey booking, or payment details collected anywhere.
Changes
This policy will be updated whenever what BBB collects or does with data changes materially — for example, if accounts, sponsorship, or new analytics are introduced.
